Geology
The village is established on a red hill of marnes of the Oligocène having delivered large bones Mammifères and of Reptiles (Crocodile and tortoise). In the small valley of Aiguebelle (brook which never dried up, even by the greatest drynesses) of the fossils of plants and fish (Smerdi macrurus) were also found. These two layers are classified geological reserves (included in the geological reserve of Lubéron), any collecting is prohibited there. Panels of information are placed near the sites. A selection of the fossils discovered is visible with the Museum of Vachères (common neighbor) and at the House of the Regional natural park of Luberon, with Apt in Vaucluse, and with the national Muséum of natural history to Paris (Botanical garden).
Along the and of Aiguebelle Releases, and towards Vachères and the Revest-of-Bush, the limestone of Oligocene contain brown, brown flint magnifying glasses black, which were intensively exploited paleolithic means (standard industry Levallois) at the end of the Neolithic . These flints were exported in all the South-east of France, as far as Italy by the Neolithic eras.
Places and monuments
The church, and the presbytery on the shaded place by limes centenaries, are the last vestiges of the medieval village. The Notre-Dame church is partly Romance (12th century).
The castle is of recent construction (very altered at the 19th century), was restored there is little ( private property ). The Vicar, house today isolated in against bottom from the borough, and formerly in the agglomeration, are a beautiful masonry of the 16th century with fenètres with mullions.
Along the Releases, and of Aiguebelle, several paddle mills, still in activity at the 19th century, are visible with their laying-up basin and their channels (Paraire, the Mill of Combe, the Brown Mill, the Low Mill, the Mill of the Plan).
