The Ataris

The Ataris is a group Punk American rock'n'roll coming from Anderson in Indiana. They left five albums in studio to date, and most recent, Welcome the Night , left the February 20th 2007.

History

Shortly after its creation in 1995, the group includes/understands a singer, a type-setter and two guitarists. They write and record their first demonstrations in the room of Kris using a tape recorder with bande.
It is into 1996 that the group takes a decisive turn when Kris manages to make pass a demonstration of the group to Warren Fitzgerald, the guitarist of The Vandals at the time of a show to the club Bogart' S with Cincinnati. The Vandals, owners of their own label, Kung Fu Records, spend only a few weeks to contact Kris to propose to him to record. Kung Fu Records, still in the search of a beater for The Ataris, will make listen to the demonstration with several beaters. It is finally the ex-beater of the Lagwagon, Derrick Plourde, which will hold the attention of Kris.
The first album of The Ataris, Anywhere drank Here is buckled in less than one week and leaves on April 29th, 1997. The group will mark the exit of this album by a show on May 2nd in Indianapolis, at Missing Link Records.

After the departure of Kris in California and a difficult period, the group gains of credibility little by little and becomes famous, gently but surely. Several albums are followed from there, until June 2006 when the group announces more not to want to work with Columbia Records.
In November 2006, The Ataris launch their own label, Isola Recordings, distributed by Sanctuary Records and RED Distribution, and announce the same day the soprtie of their album Welcome the Night on February 20th, 2007, after which the group leaves in round to the the United States and Europe. Five members take part in it, Bob Hoag and Angus Cooke playing only exceptionally.

Welcome the Night made its entry in 85ème position in the charts, with step less than 10.000 past specimens.
