the Assassination of the duke of Own way is a French film left in 1908, of immense historical importance. One of the first films which had an immense international success for the company of production the Film of Art, and, which by its popularity, helped to propel the French cinema in a commercially universal industry.
The success of film was partly due to the quality of the scenario written by Henri Lavedan but also to the professional actors like Charles Bargy and Gabrielle Robinne of the Comédie-Française. Photography and the images are also impressive for the period, just as the especially made up music for film by Camille Saint-Saëns (first narrative film in the history of the cinema).
Synopsis
An episode in the fight of the family of Own way which tries to seize the capacity in 1563. Henri I {{er}} of Lorraine, duke of Own way, rival with King Henri III of Navarre, is stabbed with died by the bodyguards of the king in the Castle of Blois. In front of the distress of its mistress, the Marchioness of Noirmoutiers…
