The Animals

The Animals is a group of British rock'n'roll founded in 1962 and which separated in 1967. As well as the Rolling Stones, this formation was one of the pionnières of the British Blues Boom and contributed to import into Europe the Rhythm' blues black American.

History

The Animals finds its origin in the greyness of Newcastle. Resulting working-class families, Price, Steel, Chandler and Valentine play each end of the week in a small orchestra of Jazz baptized Alan Price Combo of the name of the singer, and also the most influential member of the group. Quickly, they are joined by Eric Burdon, another singer. Impassioned Blues and of Rhythm and blues, Eric Burdon makes evolve/move the group in a direction which corresponds more to its musical aspirations. They take again largest bluesmen American and are affirmed like a group of remarkable scene. Their brutality on scene, where emerges in particular the voice rough and powerful of Burdon the nickname of Animals is worth to them quickly, which becomes their official name starting from 1963.

Noticed at the time of a concert with London in 1964, Animals pass in studio where they off record in particular the famous The House the Rising Sun (original version Texas Alexander in 1928 via Josh White in 1944 and 1949), begun again of a traditional piece, sublimated here by the voice of Burdon and the tablecloths of keyboards of Price. Enormous success, this title, as well as others, enables them to make good match with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in the charts .

In 1965, the group records one of the first songs whose topic is ecological, and who deplores the Pollution: '' We gotta get out off this place ''. But the same Price year leaves the group. Little time after, in 1966, following unfruitful rehandlings, Burdon dissolves The Animals. Starting from this year, Eric Burdon and Alan Price will be made competition in the Hit-parade S.

In 1976, the initial group is reformed on the initiative of Chas Chandler under the name The Original Animals the time of a disc entitled with a Humor any British Before we were so rudely interrupted , title in wink with a famous leading article where a London journalist referred to the destruction of his office by the Blitz.

In 1983, the original group is again joined together in a transitory way, with for result the album Ark , whose several titles had the honors of the charts. A world tour was followed from there before the group does not separate once more.
