The the Amazon with green cheeks ( Amazona viridigenalis (Cassin)) of the Psittacidae kind Amazona is one rarest.

Description

The Amazon with green cheeks measures nearly 33 cm.

Its plumage presents dominant green with yellow nuances on the belly. The feathers are bordered of brown, especially on the level of the neck. The face is red, color which extends until behind eyes. On the level of those to the nape of the neck a clear band violet leaves. The auricular cheeks and covers are of a very sharp green at the origin of the vernacular name of this species. The wings present red bands corresponding to the first five secondary covers.
