The Alps of Ötztal

The the Alps of Ötztal (German: Ötztaler Alpen ) or the Alps vénostes (Italian: Alpi Venoste ) is a solid mass of the the central Eastern Alps. They rise between the Austria (the Tyrol) and the Italy (Province of Bolzano), on left bank of the Ötztal, a side valley of the In in the south-west of In. The watershed formed by the solid mass delimits the catchment areas going towards the Black Sea (In and the Danube) and towards the Adriatique (Adige: valley vénoste), and also the border between the Tyrol and Italy. The northern slope is rich in important glaciers besides.

They belong to the the Alps atésines.

The Wildspitze is the culminating point of the solid mass.

In September 1991, Ötzi was found with the Hauslabjoch between Fineilspitze and the Similaun.

Geography

Situation

The Col of Resia finishes the solid mass in the west, vis-a-vis the Chaîne of Sesvenna and the Timmelsjoch separates it from the the Alps de Stubai in the east.

For the remainder, it is surrounded of the the Alps de Lechtal in the North-West, of the Wetterstein in north, the the Alps de Sarntal in south-east, of the Massif of Ortles in the south and the Massif of Samnaun in the west.
