The Alps de Gailtal
The the Alps de Gailtal (German: Gailtaler Alpen or Drauzug ) is a solid mass of the Eastern Préalpes Southerners. They rise in Austria (Land of Carinthie and the Tyrol of the east), between the valleys of the Drave in north and of Gailtal in the south, from where them name.
They belong to the whole of the the carnic Alps.
The Grosse Sandspitze is the culminating point of the solid mass.
Geography
Situation
The solid mass is surrounded of the Hohe the Tauern in the North-West and north, of the the Alps de Gurktal in the North-East, of the Karavanke in south-east and the solid mass of the the carnic Alps in the south.The Dolomites of Lienz form the most Western link of the long assembly line.
The White Lake (Weissensee) is in full heart of the solid mass.

Geology
The Alps de Gailtal are in the north of the limit between the Adriatic Plaque and the Eurasian plate. Geologically, they thus belong rather to the the central Eastern Alps. Nevertheless, they consist of Calcaire S which were pushed back towards north by the crumpling of the the Alps, this is why one usually attaches them to the Eastern Préalpes Southerners.

Tourism and local economy
Inside the mountains, only three areas are notably populated:- the Bleiberg, in the extreme is solid mass, which saw since centuries of the production of Plomb and from now on Thermalisme;
- the areas of Gitschtal, with the center, and Stockenboi, in the east, with Weissensee ranging between the two, developed tourism as well winter as estival.
