The Alps de Chiemgau
The the Alps de Chiemgau are a solid mass of the septentrional Préalpes Eastern. It rises between the Germany (Bavaria) and the Austria (Land of the Tyrol and Land of Salzburg). Their name comes from the area of the Chiemgau on which they extend mainly.
The Sonntagshorn is the culminating point of the solid mass.

Situation
The solid mass is surrounded by the the Alps de Berchtesgaden in south-east, the Massifs of Lofer and Leogang and the Massif of the Emperor in the Bavarian south and the Préalpes in the west.It is bordered in the west by the Inn.

Excursion
The Via Alpina, a path of great tourist excursion and transborder, with five possible alternatives, through all Alps, passes in particular in the Alps de Chiemgau.The purple route offers six stages in the solid mass:
- A45 stage: of Unken in the valley of Saalach with Ruhpolding;
- A46 stage: of Ruhpolding with Marquartstein;
- A47 stage: of Marquartstein to Kampenwand;
- A48 stage: of Kampenwand to the Prien refuge;
- A49 stage: Prien refuge with the Spitzstein hut;
- A50 stage: Spitzstein hut with Oberaudorf in the valley of Inn.
