The Alpes-Maritimes (Roman province)

The the Alpes-Maritimes ( the Alps Maritimæ ) were a province of the Roman Empire, one of the three small provinces spanning the the Alps between the Gaulle and the Italy. Founded in 14 av. J. - C. by Octavien, its capital was Cemenelum , today Cimiez, which became a district of Nice. In 297, the the Alpes-Maritimes increase and extend towards north and the North-West, until the Durance and the collar of the Montgenèvre. Its capital becomes Civitas Ebrodunensium , current the Embrun (Hautes-Alpes).
They included/understood part of the three current departments of the the Alpes-Maritimes, Alp-of-High-Provence and, later, Hautes-Alpes.
