Thain
In the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Thain is one of the most important characters of the Hobbit S of the Comté, with the Mayor of Grand' Cave. It was leading County starting from the end of the Royaume of North, until the return of the King. Thain is the Master of the Parliament of the County and Capitaine of Hobbiterie under the Weapons. As the laws were always respected and that rare were the extraordinary events, the title was especially honorary.
Bucca of Maresque, first Thain, is chosen by the chiefs of the County in 1979 T.A. to compensate for the disappearance of the kingdom of Arthedain, which has occurred five years earlier. Thanerie is transmitted in the Vieilbouc family until in 2340 T.A., year during which Gorhendad Vieilbouc expatriate with the east of Baranduin, melting Castle-Brande and the Country of Goat. Thanerie passes then to the family Touque . In 14 Q.A., at the time of the accession of Peregrin Touque, Thain becomes Conseiller of the king of Arnor.
