Thích Quảng Đức was a Vietnamese Bonze , born in 1897, famous to be itself immolé the June 11th 1963 with Saigon, in sign of protest against repression anti Bouddhiste ordered by the catholic president Diệm.

The photography of this event made the round the world tour and caused the agitation of the international community. It is told that during its combustion, it neither would have moved nor emitted the least sound. The legend wants that its heart resisted the flames and is preserved in a reliquary. The gesture of Thích Quảng Đức was taken again thereafter by other bonzes, that the Vietnamese government regarded as being handled by the Communists of Vietnam North.

This same photography was also used for the cover of the first album of the group Rage Against the Machine in 1992.
