In 592 in its Histoire of the Francs Gregoire de Tours speaks to us about Théodomir. Here the passage in question: " We as read in the consular tables as Théodomir, king of the Francs, wire of fire Richomer, and his/her Ascyla mother were cut the throat of. It is also reported that Clodion, which was then an able and very noble man in its nation, was king of the Francs " (Book 2, chapter 9). The event proceeds in the years 420.

Towards 660 in its Chronique Frédégaire writes that Théodomir would be the father of Clodion Hairy the. It is here about a misreading of Gregoire de Tours. Indeed, Théodomir is quoted by Gregoire right before Clodion. Frédégaire concluded from it that Théodomir is the father of Clodion. If that had been the case, Gregoire would have specified it.
Opinion of a historian

In its Dictionary of the Francs, Times mérovingiens (1996), Pierre Riché thinks this: " It supported the cause of the usurpers Constantin III and Jovin ". According to him, Théodomir would have been carried out by the Roman capacity in place (the emperor Honorius) to have supported the usurpers.
