Théo Ysaÿe
Théo Ysaÿe (Theophilus) (born the March 2nd 1865 with Verviers; † March 23rd 1918 with Nice was a type-setter and Belgian pianist .
Life
Somewhat relegated in the shade by the prestigious career of his/her older brother, Eugene, Théo Ysaye (1865 - 1918) made studies as a dilettante with the Academy of Liege. On the councils of Eugene, it will supplement his formation with the Academy of Berlin. In 1885, it joined Paris where it belongs to the " Bandage in Franck". It also attends to with it the blossoming of a current dominated by the new esthetic tendencies represented by Debussy. Théo Ysaye contributed to make known the young French school in Brussels. In 1894, one finds it, with his brother, in the Free Esthetics which offers to the Inhabitants of Brussels a vast range of creations as well in music as in the visual arts. Théo contributes to it as a pianist and a repeater chief. Excel pianist, his health fragile did not allow him to follow the frantic rate of the rounds of his/her brother. Professor with the Academy of Geneva, it dies two days before Debussy. Its work, relatively vast, unfortunately is not entirely published and, even less, is not interpreted. One finds there mainly symphonies, concertos for piano, of the symphonic poems, a requiem and chamber music. The initial style, inherited César Franck, is done near, then, of impressionism.
