Texcoco

Texcoco , Tezcuco or Tezcoco of its official name Texcoco de Mora , is a city of the State of Mexico City in Mexico, to about thirty kilometer in the east of Mexico City. It is located at approximately 2250 m of altitude and contains 118.798 inhabitants (2005).

It is an old capital of the kingdom Aztèque built on banks of the Lac Texcoco and was member with the towns of Tenochtitlán, and Tlacopán of the Aztec Triple alliance. It was at the time the second plus big city of Mexico and the second city of the empire formed by the Triple Alliance. It was conquered by the Spanish at the beginning of XVIe century.

History and dynasty of Texcoco

Texcoco would have been founded towards 1318 by Quihnatzin on the site of Tetzcohtzinco where many caves was used as shelter to the nomads ahcolhuah.
