Tetsuya Nomura
Tetsuya Nomura was born on October 10th, 1970 with Ōsaka, with the Japan. It made its studies in an artistic school of publicity. In 1992, he was engaged at Square where he took part in the graphic aspect of the combat of Final Fantasy V . Then, it quickly became extensive in the company since it was named Graphic Directeur on Final Fantasy VI in 1994.
After having worked during 2 years on a project which will never be born, Square Co. proposes to him in 1997 the station of Character designer of Final Fantasy VII . Offer that it made well not neglect. Final Fantasy VII , the first episode of the saga Final Fantasy to be left to Europe, is an enormous world success thanks to its graphics, its musics, its characters and his scenario. Tetsuya Nomura works then on new projects such as Brave Fencer Musashiden and Parasite Eve in 1998. After the success incurred by Final Fantasy VII, it was very natural that Square proposes to him the station of character designer for Final Fantasy VIII . For this opus, it cumulated at its station of character designer that of battle visual director , i.e. it dealt with the graphic aspect of the engagements by imagining the special attacks, invocations… It is also with him that one owes the scene of introduction. It also influenced on good of other things like the scenario of Final Fantasy VII ; it is singularly thanks to him that the character of Aeris dies, and that the role of Tifa was seen clearly packed in the play.
Nomura worked then on other plays like Ehrgeiz , the play of combat proposing of the characters of Final Fantasy VII (Cloud, Sephiroth and Tifa), Parasite Eve II and The Bouncer , the first play Square on PlayStation 2. With all this work, it did not take share with the creation of Final Fantasy IX which returned to Yoshitaka Amano. However, it returned on Final Fantasy X with a style much more advanced.
After all these various and varied continuations and adaptation, it plonga in a new project mixing Public garden and Disney: Kingdom Hearts . It redrew for the occasion some-ones of these former characters (Selphie, Cloud…) and invented the new ones. After Kingdom Hearts , Tetsuya Nomura worked on Final Fantasy X-2 , the continuation of Final Fantasy X . He worked then on the continuation of Kingdom Hearts , Kingdom Hearts II , which will be sold with 3.920.000 specimens in the world (a figure record). He prepares a project Kingdom Hearts III on which he will start to work after the realization of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII (that he announces as being his last Final Fantasy ).
In 2005, he worked like character designer on the play Playstation 2 Musashi: Samurai Legend . He also carried out a film in synthesized images (with the team having carried out Kingdom Hearts ), Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children , taking again the scenario of the play Final Fantasy VII . This film received the price of best cartoon film at the time of the American Anime Awards during the ceremony of February 24th, 2007 in New York.
If it has well a project to which Nomura delivered all its being, it is well Kingdom Hearts besides where it ensures the station of director and character designer. This series is of an crucial importance for the future of the firm Public garden-Enix, since it represents alliance between Square and Disney. It treats to even the luxury to redraw the most important characters of Disney like Goofy (Nutcase in France), Donald or Mickey, as well as his, Cloud, Sephiroth, Tidus and Wakka, amongst other things.
