Tetrose
see also: Etymology of Tetrose
A tetrose is a Monosaccharide to 4 Atome S of Carbone.
Tetroses have either a functional Groupement Aldéhyde in position 1 (aldotétroses) or a functional grouping Cétone in position 2 (cétotétroses).
The aldotétroses have 2 centers of chirality (" carbon assymmétriques" atoms;) : 4 Stéréoisomère S different are thus possible.
The natural aldotétroses are:
- D Threose
Only the cétotétrose natural is D Érythrulose.
