Tetovo
Tetovo (Cyrillic Тетово in ) is a city Macedonian which is located at the North-West of the country to 40 kilometers of the capital Skopje. About cash 180 000 inhabitants and having a surface of 1 080 square kilometers, Tetovo is the second by the population in Macedonia. The city, cut into two by the river Pena (Пена), was established in the buttresses of the mountains Šar (Шар) to a rise in approximately 475 meters above the sea level.
The name “Tetovo” wants to literally say “the place of Teto”; the myth holds that the city was named in the honor of the Teto hero who removed it from the snakes.
The inhabitants Albanian of the city count, according to different sources, from 75 to 95%. The other inhabitants are for the majority of the Macedonians, but there are also small numbers of Serbes, Turks, and Roms.
In Tetovo is the Université of Europe of south-east, only institution Macedonian of higher education where the courses are assured mainly in Albanian.
