Test (zoology)
In Zoology, the test is an envelope Minéral E containing Calcaire or of Silice, Chitine uses or Composite, which has like function to be used as protection with certain animals, like the Diatomée S, the sea urchin S and the Mollusque S.
In the sea urchins, this envelope preserves the name of “test”: one generally says “a test of sea urchin”. At the diatoms, it takes the name of Frustule. And in molluscs, it is about the shell; besides one speaks about testacés molluscs to mean that the animal is protected by a shell.
The term of test comes from Latin “tested” who precisely means “hard shell”. This term also formed the word “head” in the direction of “brain-pan”.
