Tervel (? - † 721 at the latest) or Tarvel , Terval , Terbelis according to the Byzantine sources (in Bulgarian: Тервел), was a Khan Bulgares which reigned of 701 with 718 or of 700 with 721 a. J. - C. according to the sources. He is the son and sucessor of Asparoukh.
In 717, the Bulgarian ones contribute to hold the Arab seat of Constantinople. Tervel is then called by its contemporaries “the Saver of Europe”.
