Territorial subsidy
The territorial Subvention is a tax single and payable silver, having to replace the whole of the royal taxes. The principle was established by it initially by Turgot which wanted to simplify the French tax system, but which also imposed this tax on all French, according to their richness. The General inspector Calonne wants to make it adopt in February 1787 with the Assemblée of notable the which it joined together, but without success: the assembly releases itself from her responsibility while regarding itself as inapt to decide the lifting of a new tax, only an elected and representative assembly being able to grant it. It is the objective of the meeting of the General states of 1789.
