Territorial administrative organization of Chad

The Chad, independent since 1960, was a long time divided of 14 prefectures. Then, into 1999 it is divided into 28 departments. Lastly, since 2002, it is divided into 18 areas.

Between 1935 and 1947: 10 > 9 departments

Transitional period with creation of new administrative entities. However, the areas envisaged by the new constitution are not created yet. The statute and the place of the Ville of Ndjamena are not specified.
