Terrenoire
Terrenoire is old a Commune Frenchwoman of the the Loire, attached in 1970 to the town of Saint-Etienne.
Histore
Terrenoire was a district of Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds, with the passage of a new railway connecting Saint-Etienne to Lyon and the establishment of a railway station results in developing the iron and steel industry of the blast furnaces. This development involves migrations of populations importantes. Demographic imbalance and the pressure of the ironmasters lead in 1866 by an imperial decree to the creation of the commune of Terrenoire. It was a small village close to the town of Saint-Etienne. It was strongly industrialized with big industry of the XIXe century like the forging mills. It is composed of middle-class houses and old dwellings of ouvriers. It remained independent only one small century and on January 1st 1970 it amalgamated with the town of Saint-Etienne.
