Terrebonne parish

The Paroisse Terrebonne is a Paroisse of the Louisiana. In 2000, its population was 104,503 people. The principal city of the parish is Houma. The parish is managed by the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government. It is one of the 22 parishes in the official area of named Louisiana the Acadiane.

History

The parish was created into 1822 of part of the Paroisse of the Fork.

Geography

The parish has a surface of 5,387 km ² (2,080 semi ²). 3,250 km ² (1,255 semi ²) of the surface of the parish consist of ground and the 2,137 km ² (825 semi ²) remaining (39.66%) consist of water.
