He never did not live his grounds. Joseph Masson acquired the seigniory in 1832 and developed some the marketing activity and industrial. Twenty years after the construction of the first bridge of Terrebonne, a bridge out of wooden inaugurated in 1834, one finds two entities on the territory: a commercial pole, Terrebonne, and an agricultural pole, Saint-Louis de Terrebonne. The history of the new town of Terrebonne corresponds to that of the colonization and the expansion of the three sectors which compose it: Lachenaie, the Plain and Terrebonne, before, three distinct cities.

Lachenaie

The elder one of the three cities, Lachenaie, was founded in 1683 by the lord Charles Aubert de Lachenaye. Its history thus goes back to more than 300 years. The colonization of the territory begins truly in 1647 whereas Lachenaie is integrated into the seigniory of Repentigny.

The Plain

In 1830, whereas the Lords of Terrebonne and Lachenaie carry out the construction of the way of the Broad outline (the current Laurier boulevard), the city of the Plain is created starting from the detachment of part of the towns of Mascouche, Holy-Anne-of-Plains, Saint-Flax and Terrebonne.
