Teresa Berganza
Teresa Berganza - born the March 16th 1935 with Madrid - is one of largest the mezzos of the 20th century.
It was the pupil of Lola Rodríguez Aragón and, discovered by Gabriel Dussurget, then directing from the Festival of Music of Aix-en-Provence, it began on the scene from this festival, in 1957, in the role of Dorabella of the opera Cosi fan tutte of Mozart.
Since, it was the interprets reference of roles like those of Cherubino, Rosina, Cenerentola or Carmen (which it incarnated for the first time in 1977 in Edinburgh, for a festival). One evening of 1983, Teresa Berganza sang with the German Opera. Filled with enthusiasm, the public the ovationna and it is since this evening that the singer was invited to give other concerts (two precisely) in 1984. In 1985, it appeared in four representations of Carmen in the role titrates. In March 1985, it gave a concert whose repertory was filled of famous songs. October 3rd, 1987, she sang again with a very different repertory. Its great vocal performance moved Berlin in 1999.
Recitalist out-par, experienced pedagog, Teresa Berganza continue his career successfully. Among its pupils of reputation Maria Bayo and Jorge Chaminé.
After innumerable concerts in company of Juan-Antonio Parejo , between London, New York, Paris, Buenos Aires and Milan, today still, it seems always not to have lost anything of its voice of gloss. She excelled in many songs Scarlattiens and Vivaldiens…
Teresa Berganza was a superb interpreter of Rossini and a virtuoso of the Mozart, and is placed as a professional singer of opera (thanks to her linguistic knowledge and its perfect articulation), on a very high bar on the scale of the large known singers.
