Tequesta
The Tequesta were Amerindian people of North America, which occupied the South Atlantic coast of the Florida, at the time of its discovery by the Européens. Their territory extended on the current counties from Broward and Miami Dade and included the archipelago of the Keys. They would have established a village with the Cape Sable, end of the peninsula of Florida, with. Their principal city, Tequesta, were probably located at the mouth of the river Miami, on the coast of the Baie of Biscayne. Tequesta lived mainly of Cueillette, fishing and Chasse.
After European colonization, Tequesta are war victims, of diseases, slavery and the forced migrations. At the beginning of the Years 1800, the tribe does not count any more that some members and ends up disappearing.
