The tenth district of the Northern is one of the 24 French electoral constituencies which account the department of the Northern . It is represented in XIIIe legislature by Christian Vanneste (UMP), city council man of opposition to Tourcoing. Its substitute is Christian Desmet, city council man UMP of Neuville-in-Ferrain.
Geographical and demographic description
The tenth district of the Northern is delimited by the electoral Découpage of the law n°86-1197 of the November 24th 1986 , it gathers the following administrative divisions:
Located at the north of the agglomeration inhabitant of Lille, it recovers part of the town of Tourcoing as well as perish-urban communes of the valley of the Lily: Bousbecque, Neuville-in-Ferrain, Linselles, Halluin and Roncq.
According to the general Census of the population in 1999, carried out by the National institute of the Statistics and Economic studies (INSEE), the total population of this district is estimated at 111.086 habitants, .
Political description
The tenth district of North is a relatively open district. Indeed, if the popular quarters of the town of Tourcoing are rather acquired with the left and Front National, the line balances its scores thanks to its préeminance in the périurbaine part of the district. Thus, of 1988 to 2002, the district rocked with each election, Front National being maintained with the second turn twice, in 1993 and 1997.
