Tenteling
Tenteling is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle and the basin of life of the Moselle-is.
Geography
The commune of Tenteling includes/understands two agglomerations, that of Tenteling and that of Ebring, distant of 2 km. Its surface covers 719 hectares, including 71 hectares of forest.
The commune is located on the plate of the coal basin, in a green environment, made up of undulating hills and forests. Most of nonwooded spaces is devoted to the agricultural activity.
History
Tenteling and Ebring are two very old villages whose foundation goes back to the fifth century.
Roman epoch:
The Roman way of Hérapel with Sarreguemines passed to the east of Guirling (well off Tenteling) destroyed during the thirty year old war.
The Middle Ages and modern times
The field of Tenteling belongs of to the abbey of Saint-Pierre-with-Nonnains to Metz, about 1300 with the commandery of the Teutonique order of Saarbrucken, in 1475 with that of Beckingen, then in Châtellerie de Sarreguemines. At the 16th century the Lord of Forbach, house of Hohenfels-Reipolskirchen, holds the stronghold.
The field of Ebring belongs to the 12th century at the house comtale of Saarbrucken. The lords of Kerpen have the village of 1591 to 1758. In 1758 it is attached to the Duchy of Lorraine.
The two villages were joined together by the imperial decree of 1811.
Second world war
Evacuation of the commune in the department of the Charente.
Occupation by the German troops on June 12th, 1940 after the bombardment of the village June 11th and 12th 1940.
At the time of attacks of the German troops on October 21st, 1944, a V1 ( Vergeltungswaffe = arms with reprisals) killed 6 people and wounded ten people. 5 buildings were entirely destroyed.
At the time of the release of the commune, on December 4th, 1944, 25 houses were destroyed to Tenteling and 15 in Ebring.
The common one was quoted to the order of the Brigade on July 1st, 1948: “Village of Lorraine very tested by the bombardments. Tenteling counts 8 killed and the destruction of 50% of the dwellings. Its population preserved admirable moral and deploys an active resistance of which testifies the number of its deportees and to its expelled. ”
This quotation comprises the attribution of the Military Cross with Bronze Star.
