Tenacious D

Tenacious D is a group of American Rock made of Jack Black (singer and guitarist) and Kyle Gass (guitarist).

History

Kyle and Jack, both musicians and actors at the same time, met with Los Angeles in a theater company called The Actors Gang . Kyle learned how in Jack to play of the guitar then, encouraged by the vocal talents of its partner, decided to form the group Tenacious D. They began on scene then were success with a series of sketches televised on American chain HBO.

They left their first album in 2001. On this occasion, they were made accompany by Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters (old beater of the Nirvana group) with the battery, by Page McConnell with the keyboards, by Warren Fitzgerald with the guitar and of Steve McDonald with low.

Music

Their orchestrations, entirely interpreted with the acoustic guitar at the time of their services on scene, refer to traditional rock'n'roll.

Systematically making use of humor and irony, their texts treat fundamental topics as well (friendship, honor, bravery, satanism) that lighter subjects (sex, puffs out, celebrity). Jack and Kyle are put in scene in their songs through heroic characters and give to the history of their group a epic dimension by telling the evolution of their friendship. Using sometimes of a very believed language, Jack Black lets express her explosive personality and thus shows a second omnipresent degree.

Their title more known, Tribute , are a homage to the more beautiful song of the world , song legendary which they improvised at the time of a duel against a demon and of which they since forgot words and music.

Tenacious D , autoproclamé The Greatest Band one Earth ( the best group on Earth ), holds his name of the expression Tenacious Defense used by the American sporting commentators (example: Scottie Pippen is playing nap Tenacious Defense against Kobe ).
