The French part of ten francs République type of Jimenez of the Jimenez engraver is a small part (diameter of 21 mm) made up of pure Nickel having a weight of 6,5 grams. It was manufactured to 110 million specimens in 1986.
It was to replace the part of Ten francs type Mathieu heavy and prone to many counterfeits. However, the population not having accepted their too great resemblance to the parts of fifty centimes, they were démonétisées in catastrophe on March 1st, 1987.
It is only into 1988 that the new bi-metallic part with the standard of the Genius of the Bastille took over.
