Temporal fracture

Synopsis
Donald asked Géo to invent a machine with to go up time, and to have the exclusive rights of sale of them. Riri, Fifi and Loulou having pointed out the dangers of matérialisation in concrete objects, the group has gone in an unchanged place for 5.000 years, time accessible by the machine from Géo: Stonehenge in England.However, the place causes such an surge of energy that the heroes find themselves with the Moyen-âge confronted with the King Arthur in his village of Camelot, which is well far from resembling the stories of the Chevaliers of the Roundtable.

Humor
Donald is the comic element of the history by his lack of traditional culture (compensated by the use of the Manuel of the Beavers Juniors by its nephews), by his mimicry and his scorn with regard to Filament, true hero with whole share of the history.The two most tragic moments are compensated by arrivals impromptus of graphic humor and word games. Whereas Donald will be made decapitate, its torturer handles the Hache like a club of Golf. Whereas the nephews unscrew on their roughing-hew, the attack conducted by Donald diverts the dark ideas quickly; indeed, Merlin announces that “carries has… euh… jumped”, to the clean direction.
Historical and cultural references
Stonehenge is a circle of Menhir S, old man 5.000 year old. and whose precise origin and use remain rather mysterious.Don Rosa depicts king Arthur surrounded of the bards Merlin and of its knights closer to the medieval historical reality than of the chivalrous legend . In the fictitious history of Gift Rosa, it is Donald in armor helped by Filament which will be at the origin of creation by Merlin of legends, which will advantageously replace the defeat inflicted by ducks.
The English title is a reference to the inscription which would have been on the tomb of king Arthur: “DIFFICULTY IACET ARTORIVS REX QVONDAM REXQVE FVTVRVS” (Here rests Arthur, the old one and future king; in English: the future ounce and king ).
Donald, by hoping for a eclipse of the sun to avoid being made decapitate, recalls an adventure of Tintin, the Temple of the sun .

Don Rosa had already had the idea to make travel in time its hero using a doubtful invention, in a history carried out for the newspaper of its college. Knighttime was the last of these stories with for hero Lance Pertwillaby. Remained unfinished, its intrigue was taken again by the author for temporal Fracture .
