Templiers of Sénart
The Templiers de Sénart is a French club of Baseball localized to Savigny-the-Temple (new city of Sénart). The club evolves/moves in Championnat of France Elite (more the high level of French baseball) and disputed the finale of the championship in 2007. Another of its teams plays in Main road 1A, the second division of French baseball.
History
The club is founded in 1987 under the denomination Baseball Club of Melun-Sénart (BCMS). The first members are pupils having assembled a small section baseball with the College George Sand of Mée, like some defectors of the club of the Pharaons d' Evry.A junior team is installation in 1990, then juniors tiny teams and in 1991 and a female section softball in 1993. This last cease its activities in 1999.
In 1997, the team is champion of France of Main road 1 and goes up in Elite division. But following a bad season 1998, it is relegated in Main road 1. In 2001 and 2002, Templiers de Sénart are qualified for the playoffs of N1, without to take down promotion.
At the beginning of the season 2003, the purpose of the team is to go up again in Elite division. And this season is indeed brilliant, because the team gains 25 meetings and loses only three of them. Then it reaches the playoffs, where it beats Teddy Bears de Cergy-Pontoise (7-0 and 13-1) then the Woodchucks of Wood-Guillaume (8-5 and 7-3). In semi-final, it meets the Saint-Lo, and is qualified for the final after series of meeting against this adversary. It finally meets the Hawks of Guerche, beaten 17-4 and 17-4, and becomes champion of France of Main road 1. Templiers go up in Elite.
In 2004, manpower is reinforced: arrived of Joel Lopez Carried out (the new trainer, Cuban), Jimmy Laza Morena (cuban, old of the PUC), Jean-Baptiste Breton, Julien Dragui (former international junior) and Thomas Salado (lent by Limours, international French 17 years)). However Salado and Julien Belle Andrade will play only the second part of the championship (playoffs), because they play for the INSEP during the first part. The objective of the season is to be maintained in Elite. The beginning of the championship is marked by the lack of success of Yann Lachapelle, the Canadian launcher, which are finally replaced by Erick Perez, a player Venezuelan. The team arrives all the same at the fifth place.
1st at March 6th 2005, Templiers prepare the championship by a training course with Barcelona, where they involve and play 4 friendly meetings with teams of the first Spanish division. Perez and Lopez leave, but enter the team Guillaume Hérichard (old of Wood-Guillaume), Luca Mangle (old of Pessac), Martin Bazaud, Daniel Aray (player Venezuelan), Luis Rodriguez (he also Venezuelan) and Geoff Freeborn (Canadian). The team counts 18 players of which thirds formed with the club. The objective is to qualify itself for the playoffs. So during the season Templiers de Sénart are in medium of table, they succeed in hanging the fourth place during before last day of the championship. Qualified for the play-offs, they lose in semi-final vis-a-vis the Huskies of Rouen (5-8 and 0-3), but are essential vis-a-vis Toulouse for the third place (1-0, 2-13 and 5-3). They are qualified for Cut CEB (Group A) 2006, the equivalent in baseball of the Cut of the UEFA in football.
In 2006, the team knows a departure (Geoff Reborn) and several arrivals: Alexandre Martin, Rob Recuenco (old of the Western Major League, Ernesto Martinez (former receiver of Cachorros de Holguin, equips with which it becomes champion of Cuba in 2002) and Chris Falls (Canadian and British) arrive in March 2006. If the team starts the beginning of the season well, it undergoes the cancellation of the result of a meeting to have made play a foreign player of too, then knows results in half-tone. Qualified for the Challenge of France, the team inclines in semi-final vis-a-vis Montpellier in May 2006. Starting from the June 13rd 2006, Templiers take part in the cut of Europe CEB Groupe has, in Catalogne. After having finished first of their hen, they face Croatian of Keltecs Karlovac in semi-final, but lose 7 to 2. However, they obtain the third place after a victory against BK Zagreb (10 to 5). After this success, the Elite team consolidates her fourth place of the championship of France, qualificative for the playoffs. In semi-final, after two defeats in residence, the team loses third once on the ground of Toulouse and is eliminated from the competition.
In 2007 and for its twenty years the club posts its will to conquer the national title. With this intention, it engages of new players like Samuel Meurant (better launcher of the championship of France in 2006), David Meurant (infielder) who carries out like back, Benjamin Deruelle (catcher/infielder), or American Evan Blesoff. The club finishes third of the Challenge of France.
From the 10 with the August 12th 2007, Templiers dispute the finale of the championship of France vis-a-vis Rouen Baseball 76, champion in title. After a victory of Templiers at the time of the first match of this final, Rouen gains the two matches according to and carries out 2-0 at the end of the eighth handle of the fourth match. The business seems heard. Sénart however reverses the tendency by gaining the fourth match in additional handle (3-2 in 10th handle) before being inclined in the fifth and last match, 9-8.

Etymology
The name Templiers refers to the order of the templiers, monk-soldiers ensuring the protection of the pilgrims going to Jerusalem. Of 1149 with 1312, the commune of Savigny-the-Temple, member of the new city of Sénart , was a possession of this military kind.
