Temple of the Reason
The temple of the Reason , created under the French revolution in 1793, was the temple of a new supposed religion to replace the Christianisme: the worship of the To be supreme.
The religion centered on the worship of the Reason was to gather all the people under the currency of freedom and of the equality in order to return to the basic principles of the Roman République, which meant the end of all explicitly the Monarchie S. the principal instigator of the worship of the Reason was Robespierre. Appointed Third state, then accusing at the time of the lawsuit of Louis XVI (he voted for the death of the king) and chief of the Comité of public hello, he believed good, to counter the Catholic religion put at the index since the general states, to create a new religion, from where the idea of reconsacrer the church Sainte Genevieve in temple of the reason. Indeed, Sainte Genevieve was venerated during the Revolution, because it had protected Paris against the invasion from the Huns in 451.
Many churches were transformed into temples of the Reason. One can quote:

- the church Saint-Sulpice in Paris,
- the church Saint-Paul Saint-Louis in the Marsh, old house professes Jésuite S,
- the basilica Saint-Denis,
- the church of the Invalides,
- the church saint Thomas d' Aquin,
- the the Pantheon of Paris,
- the church Saint Pierre in the district of Montmartre (devastated),
- the Cathédrale Notre-Dame of Rheims,
- the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-and-Saint-Paul de Troyes,
- the church Notre Dame of Versailles,
- the Saint-Pierre church of Caen,
- and much of churches of province.
The churches were often used as Entrepôt S.
The Concordat will restore in 1802 the catholic Culte in the church S.
