Telopea

Telopea is a kind of five species of large bushes or small trees of the family of the Proteaceae , originating in the south-east of the Australia, in News-Wales-of-South, with the Victoria and in Tasmanie. They have verticillate sheets from 10 to 20 centimetres length and 2 to 3 broad, bunches of many small red flowers forming of the balls from 6 to 15 cm in diameter with a base of Bractée S reds.

Classification

In the Proteaceae , the closest kinds are the Alloxylon , the Oreocallis and the Embothrium , a group of plants with final red flowers which push in the countries of the southern hemisphere bordering the Pacific Ocean. These four kinds are gathered under family of the Embothriinae .

Species

The five species of telopea occupy a whole a different territory with sometimes a very weak overlapping.

  • Telopea speciosissima - Is of News-Wales of the South. It is the flower emblem of the state.
  • Telopea mongaensis - South-eastern of News-Wales of the South.
  • Telopea oreades - Southern of Victoria.
  • Telopea truncata - Tasmanie.

Telopea speciosissima is originating in the area of Sydney and its neighborhoods including the Blue Montagnes. They are shrubs being able to reach four meters in height which push in the muddy grounds of the mountains and the plates. Endemic in Wales News of the South, one now finds it in Victoria and in Tasmanie because of his popularity.

Culture

The telopeas are popular plants, though sometimes difficult to make push, in the Australian gardens. One developed several hybrids and cultivars with flowers white-cream, pink or, as in nature, red. The two principal white varieties are called Telopea " Wirrimbirra White" and T. " Shady White" Lady;. T. " Shady Pink" Lady; and T. " Shady Red" Lady; are hybrids of Telopea speciosissima and Telopea oreades .
