Television serial

The television serial or television serial (Canadianism) is a kind of televisual fiction with episode S where each episode is the continuation of the precedent.

At the origin, the term television serial was opposed to that Televised series , which was taken in a strict sense and then indicated a whole of episodes independent from/to each other.

Today, the diversity of the kinds of televised series extended and of many intermediate works between the series in a strict sense and the serial appeared. From now on, the term serial is not opposed any more to series , the television serial being regarded today as a particular kind of televised series; the term televised series indicates from now on any televisual work of fiction with episodes and is opposed to the Téléfilm S and works not raising of the narration (variety, talk show …). The term serial indicates as for him the televised series in which each episode is the continuation of the precedent ( Belphégor or the Phantom of Louvre , Dallas , Lost , Desperate Housewives …).
