Television (group)
Television is a group of punk rock'n'roll New Yorkean formed in 1973.
Formed at the beginning by Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell, Television is one of the first American new-wave groups in the mobility of Patti Smith, and separates rather quickly at the end of a few years and from hardly two albums, before being reformed for an album and many rounds in the years 1990. They leave behind them some will always have lives and maintained like a myth by the international press rock'n'roll.
The first album of Television, Marquee Moon , left in 1977, is generally regarded as one of the philosopher's stones of the Rock' Roll. The songs are built on the plays of guitar intermingled with Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, made dissonances, arpeggios played back, inter alia, posed on a remarkable rhythm section. Tom Verlaine sings all the compositions of the group, of such an unusual voice it, in turn weak, begging, ironic. Richard Hell does not appear then any more in the group at the time of the exit of Marquee Moon and will form another group: Richard Hell And The Voidoids, whose album worship Blank Generation also leaves in 1977.
After the failure of the second album of Television ( Adventure ), Tom Verlaine leaves the group and starts an independent career, which continues to date. He has for the moment left ten albums solos, including two first, Tom Verlaine (1979) and Dreamtime (1981)
