Telethon in France

In 1985, Dorothée discovers the United States and wants to import into France (with the agreement of Jerry Lewis) an emission which moved it until deepest by itself: Telethon. Telethon 2006

A debate opened following the reflection of the diocese of Frejus-Toulon as for the ethics of Telethon: is it acceptable to finance scientific research which uses human embryos? The answer of Telethon was limited to what is legal. Telethon 2007

Telethon 2007 will be launched castle of Vincennes December 7th and 8th 2007. This televisual marathon will be spread on all the territory through two national plates, in Paris and Metz (Saturday afternoon), and in 13 cities ambassadresses France 3 which will give an account of the popular mobilization everywhere to France. The poster is different from that of the previous years. Criticisms formulated against Telethon

A minority of bishops of France has just invited its faithful not to give for Telethon, because the funds are used partly for research on human embryos which are destroyed by the process, whereas other forms of research would be possible, according to them.

In an interpellation with the House of Commons of Tuesday December 2nd 2006, the socialist deputy Emmanuel Valls violently attacked these bishops, while requiring of the Church to keep silent itself, instead of him to oppose a criticism on the bottom. The majority of the politicians defended Telethon, often speaking about secularity: an unfounded criticism since the Church has the right to freedom of expression, and its opinion concerns only its flocks.

Telethon in Chile

In 2007, Telethon Chilean made it possible to collect 13.255.231.97 0 pesos, that is to say ready of 18 million euro.

Telethon in Mexico

Since 1997, the Mexico, via Fernando Landeros, president of the “ Fundación Teletón ”, organizes each year in December, a Telethon which reaches each time the laid down objective.

Telethon is produced by Televisa, the most important chain of télévison in Mexico, in partnership with more than 700 other Mexican media and companies. Only TV Azteca, the second chain behind Televised, does not take part in the event.

The collected money is used for building and managing of the “Centros de Rehabilitación Infantil Teletón” (CRIT), centers " Téléthon" of readjustment for children. At the time of the last edition, the December 8th and 9th 2006, Telethon Mexican collected 420.369.748 of pesos (35 705.941 US$). With this sum, it is envisaged to build two new CRIT, one in the town of Netzahualcóyotl (State of Mexico City) and to Cancún (Quintana Roo).

In 2005, a special téléthon at summer set up to gather funds for the victims of the Wilma hurricane, one of the greatest catastrophes having touched the Latin America these last years. On this occasion, more than 100 million pesos (9,2 million US$) were collected.

Telethon in Panamá

The Panamá is one of the first countries of the American continent to organize a Telethon. This one is organized by the “Club activo the 20-30” town of Panamá under name “Teleton 20-30 of Panamá”.

The first Telethon took place in December 1981. Its objective was the construction and the equipment of “Central of Rehabilitación Impedidos para” (CRY), now called “Instituto Nacional de Medicina Física there Rehabilitación” (INMFR). Telethon in Spain

This one teletón is one of which it joins together more money per capita on a world level.
