Telephone quartering

The telephone quartering is a system of rather primitive quartering. It rests completely on human vigilance, and the exchanges of information are done by telephone dispatch. One meets it on lines with the very weak traffic, in particular on the Lignes with simplified indication and the lines with restricted traffic (VUTR).

Because of its weak safety, it is not employed any more in France on line open to the passenger traffic, where it was replaced by CAPI.
