Teleogryllus

Teleogryllus is a kind includes/understands the species Teleogryllus oceanicus which one meets with Hawaii.

The recent observations show that male 90% of the S have not sung any more for a few years. That is due to the pressure of selection exerted by a species of local fly parasite ( Ormia ochracea ). This species lays its egg S on the back of the males which stridulent (it locates them thanks to their " chant"). The Larve S develop and kill the host in one week to with it. The males not stridulant thus have more chance of survival and are thus selected. But, to ensure their reproduction, they position near those which stridulent and which, them, attract the females. They intercept these last with the passage then.
