Télé Meeting is a Television channel public local general practitioner French of the Réseau France distributed Overseas with the Meeting.

History of the chain

Thursday December 24th 1964 with 19:30, Alain Peyrefitte, Minister for Information, inaugurates the television broadcast station of ORTF to the Réunion. The first Tv news of the island is diffused in January 1965 since buildings of the Barachois having formerly belonged to the Compagnie of the Indies.

At that time, the personnel is entirely recruited locally and it will be necessary to await the recruitment of Memona Affédjee and Sulliman Banian on contest so that of Réunionnais of origin start to obtain a training of in-house journalist.

Following the bursting of ORTF in 1974, the chain becomes FR3-Meeting. The first retransmissions on line of international events or metropolis are made possible thanks to the arrival of the satellite in 1976. FR3-meeting passes to the color the July 5th 1978.

In December 1982, the chain takes the name of RFO Réunion following the creation of the national company of programs RFO by transfer of the activities of FR3 for overseas. When a second television channel, RFO 2, is launched the December 23rd 1983, it is famous RFO 1 .

Publicity is introduced in 1984 and the programs begin at midday as of 1991. It is at that time that two private competitors are created, Antenne Meeting which will not cease collecting parts of audience increasingly significant until taking a lead in the tv news in the middle of the Années 2000, and Canal+ Réunion.

Télé Meeting is created in February 1999 at the time of the transformation of RFO into Réseau France Overseas.
