The Stock Exchange Tel-Aviv (CUP: Tel Aviv Stock Exchange) is only the Bourse in Israel.
History
Founded in 1935 by Anglo-Palestine Bank, which will become, a few years later, the Leumi Bank, “the Exchange Bureau for Securities” was the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange precursor. During the creation of Israel in 1948, the rapid growth of the Israeli economy pushed a great number of banks and brokers to be obtained a genuine purse with transferable securities. Thus in December 1953, a money market was born in Tel Aviv. In 1983, the Stock Exchange takes its permanent districts to the 54 Ahad ha' amndt Street in Tel Aviv and opens its doors 5 days per week, of the Sunday to Thursday.
Activity
Tel Aviv Stock Exchange counts some 660 companies of which 60 of them are with dimensions on the other international markets, primarily with the NASDAQ and the NYSE but also on the European purses. The market cap (actions only) borders the 122,6 billion dollars. The year 2005 was very an happy new year for the Israeli economy, for the companies with dimensions like for the investors. The market indexes increased by 20% in 2005 thus enclosing a growth of more than 130% during the three last years. The foreign participation passed to 2,1 billion dollars in 2005, that is to say 11% of the market.
Tel Aviv Stock Exchange treats approximately 900 values (actions, certificates scrip and convertible bonds). The market of the stocks and shares with fixed income is made up essentially of Treasury bonds.
The principal Israeli market indexes are the ADJ025 one (Israeli equivalent of the CAC 40) and the TA-100. These indices respectively account for the 25 and the 100 more important market caps of the market of which most known are Teva, Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Bezeq and Israel Chemicals. Such Tech is the index of the technological values, left Israeli Nasdaq.
