Teenage Transferring Ninja Turtles (roleplay)
Teenage Transferring Ninja Turtles and other strangeness (TMNT) is a Roleplay created in 1985 and based on the Comic S of the Tortues ninja. He was written by Erick Wujcik and was published by Palladium Books.
The play was published well before the business success of films and of the cartoons and refers to the environment of the original comics . It uses the Système Palladium and makes it possible to play any kind of mutant animals practitioner or not martial arts. One of the attractions of the play is to make it possible initial players to be identified easily with the character of the selected animal what easily decorates the Interprétation of the role.
Universe
The play proceeds in the universe of the Tortues Ninja . The play in him even is a contemporary play in which certain animals transferred and behave like the human ones.
A certain number of supplements were published, briefly describing new universes of play such with in particular an accent placed on post-apocalyptic worlds such as Road Hogs or After the Bomb which was published as supplement in 1986 then was republished in the form of a play with whole share with the enriched contents much later. One also finds supplements which propose temporal voyages and transdimensionnels or of the adventures in space and the collections of scenarios.
In term of description of the universe of play, Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles and its supplements are summary. They essentially offer rules, lists of animals, material, characters not players and possibly a chart.
Specific rules
Special rules of creation of character make it possible to choose an animal and to give him the form of its choice according to a system of points (Bio-E). One can recover or spend of the points while exploiting several parameters:
- size of the character : the choice of the size of the character compared to the original size of the animal chooses grants or costs points. A very small character will souffira of malus to his characteristics. A very large character will have no-claims bonus until a certain size where he will suffer from malus of speed. Each animal has a “constitution”, long, average or short which according to the size of the character will influence his effective dimensions.
- Change : In addition to the size, the change of the characters applies to 4 factors:
- Looks : The character has a more or less human appearance.
- Hands : The hands of the character are more or less close to those of a man.
- Biped : The character is held more or less upright.
- Speech : The character is more or less able to speak.
-
Each of the 4 factors of change can vary on three values:
- Nun : do not cost any point, the character is like the starting animal. In term of rules the Tortues Ninja are in Looks Nun .
- Partial : cost an intermediate quantity of points and the character profits from an intermediate appearance, the Tortues Ninja are Hands Partial . Let us note that certain animals can be naturally equipped with the value partial as for example the bear which is Biped Partial or the parrot which is partial Speech .
- Full : Cost a maximum of points, the character profits from the same capacity as human. The Tortues Ninja are Biped and Speech Full . There still, certain animals can have the value Full by defect, such as for example the ostriches.
- special Capacities : Natural weapons (horns, teeth…), physical capacities (jump, race, apnea…), natural protections (carapace…)
- additional Members ( Extra limbs ): Particularly expensive option which is proposed with the flying animals, an additional pair of arm enables them to steal but also to handle objects like no matter whom.
Certain animals are then equipped with no-claims bonus specific to the characteristics making their capacities natural. The cheetah for example profits from an excellent no-claims bonus to its characteristic of Spd (speed).
There is no animal really more interesting than another because all are calculated on an identical basis of points. Some have nevertheless interesting characteristics but it will be necessary to make sacrifices on certain factors to recover sufficient Bio-E to buy them.
