Teenage Fanclub is a group of Scottish Rock formed in 1989

History

Teenage Fanclub began its career in 1989 with Bellshill close to Glasgow in Scotland. Not very known in France, they is one of the worship groups of the pop scene/British rock'n'roll independent. Its influences are to be sought side of the United States (crystalline melodies and song pointing out the Byrds and the Beach Boys) but also in Glasgow even, the often saturated guitars recalling to the occasion The Jesus and Mary Chain, the great Scottish group of the Années 1980.

Their album the most known remainder undoubtedly to date Bandwagonesque , left in 1991 at Creation Records. The album was elected album of the year by the magazine Spin , in front of opus such as Loveless of My Bloody Valentine, Out off time of R.E.M., or Nevermind of Nirvana. Fifteen years after, the listening of Bandwagonesque confirms that this album belonged to the category of those which do not age. Particularly not greeted by the French critic of the time, Bandwagonesque can be today regarded as one of the large albums of the pop British of the Années 1990.

In 1993, they took part in B.O. film Judgment Night with the group of rap Of the Drunk person.

The three permanent members of the group since his creation are Norman Blake, Raymond McGinley and Gerald Love. They are also active in other formations, of which most known is undoubtedly BMX Bandits.
