Technology in the French colleges

In France, for the Secondary education, the Technologie with the college belongs to the disciplines of general Culture, which differentiates it from the Vocational training.

Summarized history

  • 1975 : creation of the single College, the manual education and technique (EMT) is taught Sixième with the Troisième.
  • 1986 : The EMT disappears to leave the place to a new matter: technology college. The professors follow heavy training courses to teach it (from 6 to 12 months on the whole distributed on 1 to 3 years).
  • 1996 : reform programme of technology of the Sixième (1996), Cinquième (1997), fourth (1998) and third in 1999.
  • 2005 : reform programme of technology of the sixth: center interest: transport.
  • 2006 : The new programs 5th are deferred to a latter date.

Course

During the elementary school, technology present, but is of course associated with sciences.

Program cycle of adaptation (sixth)

The general topic is the Transport. Use of models or real objects (bicycle, skate, roller, car…), of virtual models (drawings in 3D easy to handle and dismountable on computers) and of various resources (sites, Cd, books, encyclopedia…).
  • Component of the program:
    • Operation of the technical object (function of use, function of regard, principle, connections mechanical).
    • Materials (families, properties, choice).
    • Energies (standard, storage, transformation, effects).
    • Evolution of the technical objects.
    • Realization of one of the technical objects studied.

Recommended pedagogy is the step of investigation and techniques solution to problem

Program central cycle 5th + 4th

Scenarios make it possible to be placed in the situation lived by the companies: assemblers, SAV, person receiving benefits…

Fifth

Two scenarios with the choice on three.
  1. Assembly and packing of a product.
  2. serial Production starting from a prototype.
  3. Study and realization of a prototype.
  • Technology information:
    • Computer control.
    • Use of the spreadsheet graphics package.

Fourth

Two scenarios with the choice on three.
  1. Test and improvement of a product.
  2. Extension of a range of product.
  3. Production of a service.
  • Technology information:
    • Design and manufacture computer-assisted (CFAO).
    • Consultation and transmission of information

  • Realization on project
The realization on project (inspired by the Project management) occupies two thirds of the year in time volume and breaks up into:
  1. Prior study
  2. Research and determination of solutions
  3. Production
  4. Diffusion
  • History of the solutions to engineering problems
  • Communication computer-assisted
  • Manufacture computer-assisted
  • Automatisms controlled by computer (optional)
