Techno hardcore
See also: Hardcore
The techno hardcore is divided into several sub-genera and some of these kinds are regarded as representative of the most radical and hard branch of the Techno with a rate/rhythm often much faster (170-220 BPM in general) but especially a sound spectrum more supported in the low ones.
The turnips of the Years 1990, gather greatest numbers of ravers to each teuf. However the sound of the hardcore starts with dissociated remainder from its extreme violence. The producers put themselves in competition on the number of BPM has to reach on pieces. Their experiments were close to those conceived by the current of the industrial Musique.
In France, this concept seems to be lost with the wire of time since a whole side of the scene which is not more representative tries to become mainstream , being very far from the industrial music and of experimental while proclaiming the opposite. Also, a whole part of what one names hardcore in this country is often only one form of hardtechno to which one sticks serious sounds, where the use of the Saturation replaces work on the harmonics, in short a sound much easier of approach for the general public hardtechno , from where the explosion of what one names hardcore .
The origins (1990-1993)
The hardcore was born with the beginning from the Années 1990. With the departure mainly influenced by the industrial Musique but as the Trance , the Jungle , the Breakbeat and the Mellow , it is only in 1992 as it is detached from all the other existing styles by the speed of its rate/rhythm and the power of the low pushes to the extreme (often those of a Roland TR-909 and/or Roland TR-808, to which one adds a very strong distortion). The first title which asserted hardcore is We cuts arrived Mescalinum United, diffused by the first label hardcore créé : PCP (Planet Core Productions).
They is at that time that groups of DJ /producing which will have thereafter an international success like Thunderdome (belonging now to the group Universal Music Group) or of the pioneers like DJ Rob and DJ Paul start to make known itself with the Netherlands (Rotterdam in particular), in Belgium and Germany. On the other side of the Atlantic, with Strait and New York, the style develops little by little under the influence of artists like Omar Santana or Lenny Dee.
Until 1994, the hardcore is divided still little into sub-genera. Nevertheless, the style invades little by little Europe, then the United States and diversifies.
The gabber (1994-1998) and the Real Hardcore (1994-?)
The word gabber (which then derived in gabba ) comes from the Hebrew and means “ ami ” with the Netherlands. The gabber is more centered happy , while the real hardcore is composed artists remaining hung to the guiding line of the original hardcore . One can quote in particular producers like Liza Eliaz, Lenny Dee, Laurent Ho, Manu Malignant the, Psylocke. The Dutchmen as for them are divided enough on the question. 3 Steps Ahead, Dj Promo, Gizmo or Rob Gee mix sometimes these two styles. Nevertheless, in the content these musics meet and it is sometimes difficult to make the share of the things.
The real hardcore as for him continued to obtain one big hit in the Netherlands, in Germany and Belgium under the impulse of famous DJ charlie lownoise, Buzz fuzz, Neophyte or 3 Steps Ahead. Artists coming from the countries of the Soviet ex-block started to have a considerable place as E-Man. The political recovery (certainly relative) of this style by the movements of extreme right-hand side in the Netherlands and in Flemish Région, prone to quarrels in the medium, pushed many artists to be dissociated some, whether it is by their style or their creativity.
The common point of these two styles is a deep contempt for the dance and the trance , regarded as not very innovating and very commercial. Many pieces gabber evoke this competition, most known being Meet her At the Thunderdome of DJ E-rick&Tactic in answer to Meet her At the coils parade Da Hool.
Style in itself forever evolved/moved, and the changing arrives with the Hardstyle . It is at that time the end of two annual compilations of Thunderdome (although they left compilations after 1999), which will leave off the place to Masters Hardcore, in a harder style. Other compilations left are: Terrordrome; Cyberdrome, Ravers Revolution I & II, Dominator, Braindead…
The speedcore
See also: Speedcore
Derived from the hardcore but in much faster starting from 300BPM while the hardcore generally does not exceed the 180-190Bpm.
Artcore, darkcore
Ruffneck claims creation of its styles. Following the bankruptcy of its old label, it recreates two entities. The first, Supreme Intelligence, gathers artists of darkcore , of which the famous Endymion, a style approaching the terror but at intervals closer to the original hardcore . Much is claimed of the second, Gangsta in particular which says to produce artcore . The artcore would be the changing of the gabba , darker, with in particular DJ Nosferatu. Today these two labels gathered under the name Enzyme Records. The word artcore is galvaudé because it is very much used in the scene, since years, for much of styles of hardcore created by very different artists. The prefix art is too much general practitioner to be able to apply to only one artist or only one movement.
Frenchcore
The Frenchcore is a style which is exported more and more apart from the French borders. It is a style of Hardcore very dancing having origins known as “industrialist”. Created by the group Micropoint (duet made up of DJ Radium and Al Core). It tries to open with other influences like fusion rock'n'roll hardcore/techno hardcore represented by the groups Fast Forward, Palindrome, or Moshpit.
The happy hardcore (1994-?)
See also: Happy hardcore
it is still another derivative, merrier and mélodieux. This alternative is lighter than Hardcore. He often parodies himself by taking again samples and songs of other registers.
Doomcore or nordcore
The doomcore is an alternative much more lente : it is characterized by rather heavy kicks which in general do not exceed 130-140 bpm. The music is pessimistic and the principal effect of reverberation gives a melancholic person effect. This current seems to be partly developed in the wake of the productions of Marc Acardipane and Miroslav Pajic (known as Miro) on their label Cold Rush, subdivision of PCP (Planet Core Productions) which posed the bases of this style. The clan nordcore , based with Hamburg, was also a major influence for the style, although evolving/moving with tempos much higher. In France it is especially the DJ Manu Malignant the which gave him a visibility.
Some names of actors of the scene hardcore working exclusively or frequently in the kind: Fifth Era, DJ Darkside, Zanthrax, Owl, Wilfuck, Moleculez, Dr. Macabre, Dr. Strange, Dark Invaders, the labels EBB and Black Monolith, the London collective Crossbones.
Even if it counts a solid hard core of supporters, the current remains very under-exposed because of its character less immediately festive, even glaucous. On the other hand of many producers in sight elements doom in a more accessible hardcore/gabber integrate (for example The Outside Agency, Ophidian or The Armageddon Project). It is thus also possible to regard the doom as an atmosphere, a a little romantic spirit, but there technically remains a typically definable style.

The hardcore nowadays
From an international point of view, the hardcore is a scene always very innovating, DJ and most influential liveurs comes from the four corners of the sphere. The experimental hardcore is very appreciated beyond the borders of the techno hardcore in particular in the medium of the industrial Musique, noise , Power noise , power electronics and Breakcore .
From a French point of view, most known DJ are Dutch, in particular in the form of groupings of DJs or compilations, Masters off Hardcore, Thunderdome or Rotterdam Terror Corps, all coming from the scene Gabber . Labels like Audiogenic or Epileptik in which DJ of reputation exert their talents deserve to be quoted. They are very today appreciated labels and distilling what one names Frenchcore.
Others
The followers of the hardcore (Gabbers) in Holland get dressed with marks such as Lonsdale, Pit Bull Germany, Australian, Fred Perry, or logo Dj and Air max Bw. Certains Gabbers is compared to of Skinheads due to their style and certain marks which could carry to confusion, But Gabbers (or Hardcoriens, Hardcormans) (fan of Techno Hardcore)) are not to in no case of Skinheads. Those are followers of the music " Oï, Rac, Rif… ". In certain countries of Europe, (France, Belgium…), one can find a minority of skinhead in the Gabbers evenings. This minority undoubtedly finding a kind of “discharge system” in this relatively violent music, it does not remain about it less than it is about a minority little appreciated by the purists. The HardCore community wants to be deeply tolerant and absolutely not racist. It is enough to note the presence on the Dutch scene hardcore of Dj or Mc like Mc Raw, DarkRaver, Dj Anas, Dj Bass-D… To also note, a very widespread logo always: " United Hardcore Against Racism & Haste ".
