Technical research center of Finland

VTT (of Finnish Valtion Teknillinen Tutkimuskeskus, or National center of Technical Research ) is an research organization under contract, which depends on the ministry for the trade and Finnish industry. Its objectives are the innovation, the development of new technologies and the creation of added-value to improve competitiveness of national industry in a great number of sectors.

Founded in 1942, its president is currently Erkki km Leppävuori. 2270 employees work in the various centers (Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, Kajani, Lappeenranta, Raahe), but a vast majority is based with Espoo on the campus of Otaniemi. The Center is divided into seven departments of research, supported by services dedicated to the sales promotion of the activities.
