Teatro Colón
Inaugurated the May 25th 1908, the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, Argentinian, is one of the most famous operas in the world. It was built by Francesco Tamburini and Víctor Meano.
With a capacity of more than 3.000 people and an eclectic environment of style, Italian Néorenaissance mixes and of Baroque French, the design of the building has a rich person decoration of gilded and scarlets. The cupola was painted by the famous artist Raúl Soldi.
As opposed to what much of people think, the main entrance is not on the “9 of julio”, one of the broadest streets of the world, but on “Libertad”, in the district of San Nicolás. Throughout its history, Teatro Colón accommodated great names of the opera like Arturo Toscanini, Jane Bathori, Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
