Tear
At all the mammals and thus the Man, the tears are drops of a salted biological liquid; the lachrymal Liquid, secreted by the lachrymal Glands, on the level of the eyes.
The tears are produced when the lachrymal liquid overflows of the eye or when the lachrymal glands are stopped. They are presented in the form of drops which run along the cheeks: the verb which indicates the production of tears is to cry (or sometimes " larmoyer").
They generally betray a state of sadness or Douleur, although they can appear in other emotional circumstances: Joy, To laugh…, or following an aggression of the eye: Teargas, Onion,…
Expressions
- to cry with heats tears : to strongly cry sincerely;
- to be at the edge of the tears : to be thorough with end, ready to cry;
- crocodile tears : hypocritical tears, is said when a person made pretense cry (false tears) or while not being sincere;
- a tear : a drop (says itself for example to ask for an minor amount of a liquid such as the champagne).
