Teachta Dála
A TD or Teachta Dála (plural: Teachtaí Dála) (Irish word to indicate “Appointed in Dáil”, pronounced ˈeːrʲən̪ˠ) is a member of the Dáil Éireann, the Lower House of the Irish Parliament, Oireachtas (delivery ɛrʲaxt̪ˠasˠ).
The term was used for the first time to designate the Irish deputies elected with the general elections of 1918 to sit at the House of Commons with Westminster, with London, and which makes some gathered with Dublin to create a new Irish Parliament, Dáil Éireann.
Initial TD its placed after the name of the elected deputy. For example, for current the Taoiseach (Prime Minister for the Irish Republic), one refers to him like “Bertie Ahern, TD”.
