Teaching Coaching
The teaching coaching is a form of Pédagogie, different from those usually practiced within the framework of the Classroom or the Amphi. Indeed rather, that a masterly role of transmission of a knowledge, it gives to the teacher a role of guide of the learning, not only in the acquisition of knowledge to the traditional direction, but also of collective competences and a personal development
This last can in particular comprise:
- a cognitive development , for example the acquisition of new representations, new manners of building knowledge.
- a development of the social person, for example in the construction of a professional identity, of knowledge-being in situation
- a development of the emotional person, in particular of the self-confidence
- it can be also articulated with the construction of objectives of professional life (even personal).
The teaching coaching can be the accompaniment of one learning individual, but also of a team of learning, even of a class. The speaker is seldom called coach, but rather tutor, pilot of project, godfather, monitor, adviser or professor…
The teaching coaching takes as a starting point the Coaching, but it is characterized some by certain aspects:
- the coach is not a specialist trained with the Psychologie, he assumes before a whole role with teaching vocation. It perhaps a teacher, a professional or a par (another student trained for that).
- contrary to the traditional coach (sport, company) it is often in situation of framing and especially in the second time, of evaluation of provided work, often by a note.
The teaching coaching is practiced in activities like the training by project or the Apprentissage by problems. Although increasingly practiced like teaching step, he is often badly recognized compared to the traditional methods of lecturing.
